Is It True?

DAS7NY · Mar 22, 2009

People say silver is getting scarce. Well I just started last week. I was wondering if this is true? Those who have been doing this for a year or two, do you find that you are getting less silver than you used to get or is it the same? Just curious!

silvercop · Mar 22, 2009

i been gettin a lot less

Diver_Down · Mar 22, 2009

Way less. Out of my last $4000, I netted 3 40%. Stopped the boxes altogether until I get a different supplier from a different district.

enamel7 · Mar 22, 2009

No more out there. Don't bother looking. ::)

jrf30 · Mar 22, 2009

Much much less than a year ago, and i stopped getting boxes from two of my three sources. ONly do one bank of halves now. Just not worth it anymore. Sorry, but true.

Yes.

mick56 · Mar 22, 2009

A lot of skunks these last few months

coinmojo · Mar 22, 2009

I have had a poor Janurary a good Feburary and a poor March so far this year.

Last year was pretty good all togeather.

When I started doing this over 3 years ago it was much better.

So we shall see.

I have been doing this for many years. Just in the last year I have seen slim pickens go to nothing.
It use to be at least 10 keepers and up per box and hardly ever a skunk. It"s almost not worth it
anymore unless you have an in with someone at the banks.
Buy everyone doing so much coin, these banks are getting Wise to us now and are charging to process
the coin and soon they all will. So to answer the question, yes it is. Will it be profitable to do next year?
Probably not. but that is just my opinion.

taropatch · Mar 23, 2009

I am in hibernation too. Not worth it any more. I'll save my gas money for fishing and hiking.

jonhls · Mar 23, 2009

For the most part finds are much much worse than when i started.Still get a decent box occasionally, road trips are not even worth making for the most part.I still get some boxes for now but do mostly dimes other than that. Also will cut back even more on the halfs soon now that i can detect...good luck but ya picked a bad time to be starting up...jon

exnatomp · Mar 23, 2009

I've seen a big drop in results starting early last year.

47thelement · Mar 23, 2009

I would have to agree. It's not really worth the time and effort. the fun is gone :'(

packfan_1982 · Mar 23, 2009

Sorry, all of the old timers found it all already.

silvercop · Mar 23, 2009

i guess when LJ quit we all should have figured it out :'(

maine_Jim · Mar 23, 2009

Try your area a few times - if you see nothing it is probably been strip mined.

fistfulladirt · Mar 23, 2009

Cheaper and easier to just buy it outright, although not as fun. FFD

I just started but out of 4 boxes I have just gotten 1 skunk box!

how u do n · Mar 24, 2009

Doing my last 4 boxes today.
Time to go out and swing the detector until this winter.
Hopefully there will be more around then.
With most people cutting back you might do well in your
area. Good Luck

It is taking more and more effort to find it. It seems many are ignoring rules #1, #2... you do not tell anyone about Coin Roll Hunting. Every town around me has at least two full time CRHers. Great news hunh? I will keep it up until It becomes too scarce to find.
