Hi, just came across a dried up river and found the flakes in the attached image. There must be hundred's of thousand tiny flakes scattered around that are visible to the eye. The largest one is about 1.5cm long. Is it worth exploring this area with a detector?

Thanks in advance for your replies :)

So I just looked into how to tell the difference and I believe they most likely are pyrite 😅 I guess it’s not worth investigating further right?
Definitely worth investigating it again. The pyrite I’ve seen is usually with sharp square corners or flat and brittle. Besides, do you want to look back on this someday with regerts?
