a good way to scavenge coins is with a paint stirrer under vending machines, coins come sliding out.

Must put this to rest..Unfortunately right after spring everything came to a halt never got out detecting for the rest of the year i lost track of all the money i picked up off the ground if i had to guess i would say i fell short of my goal.Hopefully i will be able to hunt the entire year to come..Spring is right around the conner and i have a few great sites ready to go..I apologize for not keeping up with this post..May all your hunts be plentiful.H H

I went to the movies one time at an indoor theater at the mall. It wasn't very busy and I sat about 4 or 5 rows back from the front. No one sat in the first 4 rows. After getting settled in I noticed a $1 bill on the floor in front of my seat. I picked it up and poked around to see if there was more. Finally I decided to check the empty seat in front of me. Leaning over it I found about $14 more in the seat. Got to see the movie courtesy of someone else's cash.

My wife only picks up pennies if they are heads-up. I pick up any coin. You never know what it will be and it adds up.

NE Hunter - I think you can reach your goal. But why give 8% away to Coinstar? Seems like a waste to me... How difficult is it to just spend the coins or roll them and turn them in for cash

I always pick up,I work in a car park, People are dropping all the time.

I take my change bucket when it gets full to a Indian casino. They pour it in the sorter and give cash back. They even take pennies. The hard part is to make it back to the car with any left!

I always take the time to pick up pennies.

AFTER ALL, I'll spend 5 Minutes digging one out of ground as hard as Concrete,

Why Not Take the Easy ones Too

Because there is no sport in that....

I grew up in 40s & fiftys & back then a penny would actually by something. We always picked up the coins we found on the ground. Also soft drink bottles for deposit. Not as many coins on ground then because if someone knew they dropped a coin they would pick it up. I have always piched coins off the ground & I always will untill I can't bend over to do it. There always the grandkids to pick it up for me. HH Sonny

don't forget to check pay phones (are there still some of those around ) and the newspaper and vending machines. My husband always finds money in them.

I got a chuckle from this post. Not 20 minutes ago I picked up a penny on the ground while walking back to work from the store. As I picked it up I thought about this post. And , "Find a penny, pick it up, and all the day, you'll have good luck!" By the way I was at the store buying a few lottery tickets.
