Is this a 1970-S small date, high 7? PICTURE

Hi all, I came across this the other day, and I was wondering, is this a 1970-S small date, high 7? I am not good at distinguishing vareities, but maybe somebody more skilled than I could tell me.

I would like to see a close-up of just the date to make sure, but from the current scan, it doesn't appear so. Check it through a loupe and ignore the 7, but rather focus on the 9. The inside curve of the 9 is the indicator. If it points to 3 o'clock then it is a small date. If it points to 5 o'clock then it is a large date. While you are at it, double check the mintmark for an rpm.

Looks like it to me.. Congrats.. better condition than the 2 I have. I've looked through many 1970-S here since S-mint cents are very common around these parts and so far I've found 2.

The key is the loop of the 9 and the weakness of "BERTY" in Liberty

When I said close-up, I meant a close-up not just a cropped photo of the one above. All kidding aside, I still see a large date. The S mintmark does look sloppy so it might be a re-punched mintmark. The S will have an S over-top of the original and north of the original.

SF, I don't check for dates when I do pennies, it just to happened when I poured the penny roll onto the table, that was staring up at me

Still looks like a small date to me. Does Buffalo Boy have a closeup of the 9? The pointed loop of the 9 would help indentify it. I've looked at many 70-S here, that's pretty close if you ask me. I'm still looking for the that 69-S DDO

Why dump all your copper? Keep it. Keep all s-mints. Get a box full and you can definitely for more than 1.5xface on Feebay for a box of all s-mint cents.

Yeah on second thought.. it looks like a large date now. Tough call. Very close. The BERTY was weak too. Close enough. Though variety to determine that's for sure.

Thank you all for the input, It's no big deal if it isn't worth anything, since it was just by coincidence I spotted the nice shiny 1970-s, as when I search pennies, I dump the roll onto my CRH table, and start sliding the definate junk into my hand, and leaving older questionable coins behind to date/reverse check. This works very effectively, I may miss 1-2 wheat pennies every 4 boxes. (on a bad day)
