its about 11" tall 11/2" wide at the top and 2 1/2" wide at the bottom

Looks like a spindle to and old Loom of some kind. Not sure of the age.

It is defiantly a bobbin or spindle off a loom or textile factory. My wife collects ones similar to that; she has all shapes and sizes.
