What's new

Is this a handle from a cup? Is it an old trigger guard?

We found this today at a local park. This place is out in the country and it used to be a booming oil town back in the 1800's. Anyways i'll just get to the point and ask what do you guys think this item is? It is pretty heavy for it's size and it is solid. Not sure what it is made of but it was hitting in the positives and there's very little rust on it. On the thick side there is an indent on the outside. It was found at 6 inches. It looks to me like maybe some kind of handle...maybe a mug..or maybe it came off a gun? I hope someone knows what it is.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know what it is, but I don't think it is a piece of a trigger guard...

Perhaps a piece of a lantern hook from a carriage or front porch?

Interesting find
Pic 3 shows quite a groove on the inside of the item. :icon_scratch:

Definitely not from a gun. Could be a hanging hook or hold down hook of some kind.

Would that be a middle finger? haha. just kidding! you kind of set yourself up for that one. ; )

Thank you all for your helpful replies. This thing is really interesting and i will be going back to that spot very soon. Maybe we'll find the rest of whatever this thing is.
