Hello!

I was searching a field today for a couple of hours. Didn't find anything good untril I was heading back to the car. I seen a rock on the ground a white color. The rock is very smooth and feels really good in the hands. I noticed it appeared to be a thumb impression on one side and like 3 others around it. The end of the rock looks to be damaged from impacts. I thought maybe this could be a crushing tool they used? I am holding it in one picture with all my fingers in place where the indentions are. any help would be greatly appreciated!1 I really hope its authentic. The thumbprint impression is awesome looking. Like I said it fits perfect on the hand.

You still didn't find anything good. It's just a rock. Do not ever again utter the words 'fits perfect in the hand'. That does not mean jack sh*t in relation to artifacts. The rock does look like a quartzite material which would be good for tool making. Keep checking that area.

Ok first of all you need to calm down before I report you. That is ridiculous. It fits in the hand just right with the grooves. Theres no sense in the cussing. Be respectful. My god

He sure could have said that better.... it did make me chuckle to be honest.
But he is correct.. its just a natural rock.
The fact that you found a way to fit your fingers on it has nothing to do with weather or not it's a man made artifact.
A persons thumb did not make a dent in the stone.

Thnk u have yourself a geofact there. More often than not if ya turn aa rock enough in your hands it will fit perfect. That being said it still dosen't make it an artifact/tool. Although it might be a hammer stone, but in that case its basically still a rock. Keep up the lookin though. Persistence pays off!qq

I don't think he meant it like you may have read it, he was just voicing his opinion. Sometimes it is tough to interpret what and how something is said from reading. I do agree that it is a geofact, but glad RGRINN tells it like he sees it, clicks aside. Please keep posting...I have no problem with posting these, actually I think they are some of the most interesting ones we have here.

I see its white. I find white, tan and grey stones where I hunt. The smooth ones are a different color on the inside except of the quartz ones. Check back on another day. You might want to crack that one open so you can see the color and that way you will know what to look for. Most of the ones I find are black on the inside even though the outside is different. Here is an example for you.
