lead or iron? It looks like iron from the pictures, if so, then 'no' it is not a musket ball, they would be made of lead, but grape shot from a cannon would be iron, so it could still be related to the war.

From what it looks like on the dime it looks like it's about a .44 caliber. It looks like it has a seam of mold mark around the ball. It could be either a civil war pistol ball or a ball from a Kentucky or Pennsylvania rifle
