I was looking through it and saw an English brass sword belt clasp on page 53. I immediately recognized it and went for a box of my finds. I pulled this out and its very similar. It seems small to hold a sword. Can anyone confirm if it is a half to a sword belt clasp. I found this last year at one of my sites in newburgh NY.
 

Yes, it is. These were made before the Revolution well into modern times. Yours looks like one of the older ones. Nice.

It probably belonged to a British soldier, possibly an officer during the Revolution. Where you found it would be a perfect place for it to lay in wait for you.
