It could be brass. Is it made as an alarm for a trap? I've seen tinkle cones in a museum but they were rolled flat and not cone shaped. It was found around a lot of animal bones, with Madison points. You can see the tip how it's rolled in like it was hit. I don't know. Didn't see any beads. But wow that's neat.
You are correct in your assumption .. I have dug many of these style on a 1600's trail. Most likely it is a rolled piece of pot copper you can see more of them on my site at this link :
