I found this tiny child’s ring with the inscription “pebble” on it
I’m thinking it might be a low carat gold But I’m not quite sure. The 10 karat acid I have dissolved quickly, on the touchdown. I applied a 10 carat as it directly to the peace and it has a very intriguing pattern. There is no hallmark, the ring looks very old. Does anybody have any experience with any rings that look like this? 80F943E7-DFA3-46C5-AA3F-87AA23C5382D.webp3A5DD9E0-9EE5-4DAB-951E-8E506ECA5019.webpF381D92C-CD2B-482D-99A7-924C4D20BED6.webp

this is a jewelers website - they want you to buy 18K gold
which costs more
US jewelry stores do not offer 9K (usually ...don't want to say never because I think I have seen 9K Claddagh rings at Irish import gift stores)
- that does NOT mean it is not gold
it is because the US has a gold standard of 10K (417) for jewelry

If a silver ring is marked .800 - it does not mean it is not silver
https://www.silverrecyclers.com/blog/800-silver.aspx
The US standard for jewelry is .925 and once again you wont see anything less sold from US jewelers (usually)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_silver
Some other countries sell .900 silver jewelry - some allow less

By saying it is not gold - you will have some believing that 9K is junk and has no value
US refineries will buy 9K - you just wont get as much for it as you might think
I sold all 5 9K rings I found - as gold

There is also 8K gold for those that dont know it - it is usually marked 333
I have found 2 rings marked 333 so far - they are foreign made and once again have value and can be sold to
refineries...i have also found a cross marked 8K/925

you will find an old article I wrote yrs ago here (click twice to enlarge for easier reading)
you will find larger pic of Fla. 9K ring found - before and after on 4th page

this is gold from 4 day Fla. trip saltwater hunting
the ring at very top that is half green is 9K - it did clean up with electrolysis
you can kind of see hall marks inside

Wow Casper, you hit a honey hole or what?!

Yes I did - the spot was north of Miami - it was in front of some older hotels in an area where the
nearest public parking was a mile in both directions - so locals would not park and walk that far (usually) to get to an area
that is where being a tourist some times has its advantage - I was staying just a couple hundred yards north at
another hotel - I jumped in and headed south and right off the bat got a silver ring and thought i was gonna kill it.
For the next hour I got almost nothing. Then I came upon a cut in the beach caused by 2 small storms that had gone thru
right before I got down there. Tide was almost out and i was in like waist deep water working in a straight line to the south
trying to find a spot that was holding a fair amount of finds so I could stop and grid. I hit a spot near this cut in the
shore where it was like being in a bowl. The storms had scooped out a lot of sand and the hard bottom with rocks, shells
and coral only had a few inches of sand covering it where in areas out side of this spot there was like 2 feet+ of sand
covering the hard bottom. Started to pull up green coins...every swing I was getting more than one target and 9 out of 10
were coins that had been lost years ago - I did not get any silver ones but my guess that most of the brown and green coins were
most likely from the 70's on up. Well at this point all i was getting was coins and i continued on thru this spot and continued
for another couple hundred yards with not much to show for it. The tide was turning and i turned and worked my way north
back to the area I was getting the older stuff. As soon as I entered "the bowl"...I got a nice signal and scooped up a heavy
mans 14k wedding band - Bingo. I started to grid the spot and was getting coins and jewelry left and right. Here are pics of what I got
for each day I hit there - this was my best travel trip ever and still to date.
Day #1 - 6 pieces of gold - 3 pieces of silver
attachment.php

Day #2 - 10 pieces of gold (2 rings lower left were 10k and did clean up)
attachment.php

Day #3 - 7 pieces of gold (bracelet was 10k - green cleaned off) 9 silver rings
attachment.php

Day #4 - water was really rough - i cant find pick for that day - I did not get much cause storm came in and there were big waves
I know I got a gold lazereth pendant and at least one gold ring - I could not stay in that long.
Here is pic of total haul - I got over $70 in change (ive had years when i was younger when I didnt even get that in a year)

Holly crap Casper. Did you hunt 24 hours a day for four days? What an amazing haul. Gold for me is elusive, however I do find it. But your 4-day haul is more than most of us will reap in a lifetime. Damn man, drop me a PM next time your hitting a Treasure coast spot in the Daytona Area. If it's winter time, I'm in driving distance to join you! Love to learn some tips from you, Sen-se'. :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

I havent seen that pattern (the gold its self) on any gold except some pictures of gold mica, the pattern is very interesting, looks pressed then formed...

What you found is a naturally occurring giant ocean gold pan! Pulls out the sand and leaves the heavy items in the bowl Gold being heaviest in one area and all other heavies past it like the black sand. Remember this spot and tell no-one There is a lot more here Congrats!

Im just a Fla. tourist but this spot has never opened before and has not since - the wave action came into shore here at just the
right angle - ive gone back to this spot like 5 times - sand is 3+ feet deep here now - would take a huge storm to blow it out again

That was her engagement ring from Bam Bam ! Sorry couldn't resist. Nice looking ring.

Note to Casper, Install webcam and watch it like a hawk

I found a 4K gold ring some years back. I was told it was foreign ? I could never really find out any info on it. It was a real dull looking gold in color.

WOW, Now that's different..how was it marked..? They don't even make acid for that..9k, 8k, 7k, and 6k but not any lower. Very cool find for sure.

Very nice!
I've found a few rings but that one is very interesting, almost like a gold leaf affect. Variegated pattern..Most diff take it and have it tested. Any gold ring made in the USA since 1906 has to be stamped with a fineness mark.

Gold is gold I like it all shapes and forms

9K is gold, 4K? Is still gold. If it is a gold alloy it is gold Just worth less the smaller the digit Plate even has gold on it and it has a value.
