It ain't always about coins, jewelry or relics...

Found this at an old farm house site I am hunting looking for silver.
Gotta be from the late 1800's or so, great design and only about 3" tall.
The house was knocked down in about 2009, I am finding all kinds of iron and other objects that were part of the old home
Maybe an old bathroom fixture from the home?

I have been searching the web for info on the manufacturer, CBC is stamped on it but nothing yet, and I have looked at hundreds but I still have seen no images that match this design.
None even close.
If anybody has a clue about this company, that would be great.

Looked cool out of the ground, way better after I tumbled it, took it apart and tumbled it some more.
It is done with the cleaning process, it has just the right look of an antique and it goes on display as is.
The hinge for the handle and the 2 screws that adjust that handle are copper.
It is much better looking in person.

Even the wife says she loves it, she always says that about my odds and ends, but this time I think she really means it.

Sometimes the little odds and ends we dig up can make us as happy as jewelry, relics and coins.

I agree, nice find, nice clean up and pix, congrats!

Someone clued me in and says it is actually a a pressure relief valve used on pressurized tanks.
More research to do.

It is a pressure relief valve. Nice find

I Agree.

Still Cleaned up nice.

The only thing that my wife likes about the hobby is "THE JEWELRY" so in that case Your A Lucky/Wise Guy. LOL

Davers

No, my wife doesn't like some of the jewelry I find, she LOVES it.
Then for some reason those pieces seem to go missing.
That's fine, she actually tells me to go hunting sometimes.
For awhile I just considered myself lucky to have a girl like that, later on I figured out she had another agenda.
Still...Win-Win as far as I am concerned.

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

Several opinions on what this thing actually is on all the forums I posted it on, but with a few suggestions and leads I finally found it.

I went online and poked around some more and found out exactly what this thing is...
A high tank toilet fill valve according to the collector on Etsy selling one just like it from his collection.
He says it is from the 30's, so maybe...or it still might be older than that.

So from an old toilet...Eeeewwwwwww!
But at least it was one of those old style ones with the box up high.

The pics below have two different ones, the one on the right is mine exactly.
