Hello:
It's been awhile since I've posted or have been on the forum and for this I apologize. I've been very busy with family matters (family illnesses and deaths mainly) and a big move from NY to SC, thrown in to further complicate matters. anyways enough said. Usually I'm fairly adept at Identifying my finds, but every now and then I find something that completely stumps me. Any help is very much appreciated.

I'm sure you've thought of this but maybe plum bob? If not looks like a pin for something or part for a macine. Where did you find it? What's the areas history?

Plum Bob was my very first thought, but with the bent tip and off center hole at the top I kind of dismissed it........I've done a search for vintage and/ or antique plum bobs and I've found nothing even close to this..........but it's still a possibility I guess.

Maybe a bell clapper?

Looks to me like it's the latching handle for a window.

It looks like it maybe some type of prying tool.
Maybe for a climber of some sort.
A logger or telephone pole??
The angled flat head screw driver looking end for prying, the bulb for the palm of the hand and the hole for a lanyard to keep from dropping.

Could it be a tool for lifting the "hot plates" off old pot bellied stoves ????

I've seen my share of stove parts and unfortunately used many of them in my days......this item is way to heavy and very narrow at the tapered end.......

Hoof pick?
Like with the stove part above. it's way to heavy and having raised horses....I'll have to rule hoof pick out.

I'm currently looking for my digital scale which is still packed away from the move. When I locate it I can get and exact weight on this item and update the post. Thanks all who are taking the time to look.

The one end looks like a screwdriver. Maybe a specialty tool for early automotive repair?

In the first half of the 20th C, many cars came with their own set of tools...

:dontknow:

I keep thinking it's from some sort of ratcheting mechanism, like possibly an auto jack. It seems intentionally weighted on the one side, perhaps a spring was attached to the hole, which then went to a release lever?

My mission today was to locate my digital scale & digital calipers, which I finally accomplished. Here is the updated photo and data I promised. Please note that all measurement are still approximated. This unknown item appears to be hand foraged and because of this isn't uniform in its design or measurements. Thank you for looking.

It sort of looks like a primitive cam rocker sort of mechanism :icon_scratch:
Maybe a counter balance lever for a toilet cistern chain pull?
