I had a great weekend at one of my hard hunted sites. Since I started hunting this place in 2012, it had never had a deep plowing. The last time I was there when it was in corn stubble, I only found one little cufflink. Well, apparently he plowed deep this time, because it was almost as good as the first time went in there. I knew there was still some deep stuff hiding in there, but I was amazed how much the plow brought up. Saturday I dug 26 buttons, two large coppers (Draped Bust and an unidentified one) and TWO half reals — 1777 and 1783. The last time I dug two Spanish silvers in one day was April 2014. I went back on Sunday and was able to recover 7 more buttons, a plain cufflink, 2 large coppers (unidentified as of yet), and a piece of a counterfeit 2 reale. In addition to all that, I also got 15 dropped and fired musket balls.

Here are my finds from Saturday. It's been quite a while since I had a day like this.

Ha! I only update that photo about once every ten years :laughing7:

You just have to love the "easy-ID nose" on Spanish coins of that era....Nicely done!

Congrats on that 2 Spanish silver day. :occasion14: I can't remember how many times I pulled 2 in one day... That's right, NEVER. :BangHead: I am at 1 Spanish silver for about 4 seasons of swinging the coil.

Righteous!! Great recoveries. I like that largest dandy, but two milled Spanish and a piece of counterfeit?? C'mon!

That's gotta be putting you into what, 70 or so Spanish silver all told? Most people don't pull that many large cents in the same span!

Happy for you, hope it continues.

Congrats!!! Awesome hunt.

I have actually dug Spanish silver on back to back signals....on two separate occasions :)

Congrats! Two Spanish Silver in one day is great. I wish i could get one more to have as many Spanish Silver in my detecting career as you dig in one hunt... :laughing7:

WOW, Soooo , many Spanish silver... did you find most of your silver , in that same field ?? I'm only 7 hours away in NY, near Monticello.... How can I find over 800 pieces of silver , and not 1 Spanish silver yet ??!! LOL Someday....

WTG.
I'm sure it's some work, getting all that stuff.

Funny , those Silvers almost = the number of flat buttons I have Ever Dug. ; That being 4.

Man I need some Older Sites. LOL
Good Job on all your nice finds.
Davers

I've got 18 Spanish now from that site which ties it with another site where I dug 18 Spanish. But this site wins the tiebreaker with a Draped Bust dime and a Capped Bust half dime :)
Oh by the way, your Spanish will come. Any site 1830 or earlier has the potential to produce Spanish

It happened to me once with Spanish silver coins, three 2 Reales, one after an other. And once with French silver, three in the same hole this time. Any day I find one colonial silver is an exceptional day. Two on a same day, is a crazy luck day. Again congratulations!

Geez the two coppers and a few buttons would be a great day for me, haven't got any idea what it would feel like digging either one of those great looking silvers. Congrats!
