Hello All,

Wife dug this in an 1830s-1890s spot. It weighs 6 grams and it’s gold. Top of a mechanical pencil? Bottom of a crucifix?

Maybe the top of a gold hat pin ?? What ever it originally was you sure can't beat finding lost gold anything. Gold writing instrument is a good possibility also.

It looks like the handle part of a hat pin as ''Tamrock'' suggested.

Is it hollow? On the enlargement of the photo I see some corrosion at the seam line on the head. Filler of sorts.

The top of a chess piece. I think it is called a rook.
