IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!!!

I decided to hit an old park at lunch instead of the farm spot. As usual, it was swarming with kids. I chose to detect by the baseball field instead. Actually, just in front of the bleachers is where I hunted. I was digging up coins and pull-tabs mainly, THEN........"cha-ching, cha-ching, I found some bling." I didn't even have to dig. The ring was just under some powdery dirt. I thought I had scored a white gold solitaire. I packed it up and headed back to work. Once I got home and put it under my CSI microscope, I realized it was not the real deal (silver plating coming off). What kind of sicko would leave such a ring, and give a guy like me a heart attack? ::)

There are some warped people out there.

Just kidding of course. Although this one wasn't the real McCoy, it was still exciting to find.

Those heartstoppers are still fun,
a heck of a lot better than slashing your finger
on a piece of glass in a hole or somehing.

Recently I thought I must have hit a cache or something really great ! I dug and dug > Felt the shovel hit something and then a metal sound > I was so excited

But it turned out to me a large piece of tin !!! probably from an old barn

I had that cache thing happen to me once too. A large metal object buried deep next to an oak tree. The metal actually became embedded into the tree. After about 30 minutes of digging & chopping, I ended up with a large plow piece. :'(

Out of 31 rings, that's happened to me about 25 times ::)

It's still a ring the way I look at it..the good thing is that your machine is able to detect round, circular objects with hollow middles other than pull tabs and washers!

Keep at it, there's more good ones to find!

That does bite the big one MM....What can you say.I found a "gold" ring one time but when I got home and cleaned it up,I mean caked with mud....PLATED and chipping.It happen's to the best of us.Maybe next time MM....Enjoy the weekend and Happy Father's Day!!!

Real or not its still a nice ring. I've found several that I thought were real and ended up being disappointed.

It's the law of averages. You find what people lose. People lose fake rings and real ones. I always smile when I find a fake ring. For some strange reason I always find a real one soon after!

agree totally with bobbydoo they are still fun to dig or find
you get that good rush and you can't stop saying "Oh Yeah,YEEEaaahhh"

and man i slashed my finger open a couple weeks back on some glass in the hole
i thought the blood would never stop, i did'nt care so much that i was cut and bleeding
but that i had to stop searching that hole for about 20 minutes to patch myself up

in the end i got an old rusted car alternator out of the hole.

Yes!! It was a trick bag!!! But still fun . I found a bracelet the other day but it was fake to!! on the inside it said avon on it !! of all things..

I got Ridley beat on CW era items and relics, but he's got me beat BAD in the jewelry category. The old coins is a close one.

We are supposed to hit a new site next w/end. An old property that has been in the peoples family for 125 years. Three old houses, barns, and lots of fields.

I happened to me too! This is not a great photo of it but my heart stopped when I dug it up. I haven't had it appraised but the ring is plated so I assumed the whole thing is junk. It drives my wife and daughter crazy thinking that it is real so I just let them suffer! LOL! The penny is a "silvered" 1953. No info on that one.
