I've conquered my fear and doubt of going all metal

I'm actually finding it easier to pinpoint targets than I thought it would be. We have been hunting in an area that has been pounded over the years but friends we took with us have used their Fisher F75 machines and dug deep targets and found so e pretty good finds...a complete Borman fuse,V nickel, I button and several bullets. I did not find anything good tonight but I did dig a little deeper targets than I have before using pre-set detecting patterns on my Minelab 505 X-Terra.

well good for you! i never hunt in all metal unless hunting relics but then I am a coin hunter. While hunting without all metal, I have found musket balls, minnie balls, buttons, iron object galore etc. Good luck! Like your motto! :)

Good for you CG! It just takes a little get'n used to.
I switch to all metal when I'm curious about a targets size, or if it's really deep, and I'm trying to figure out what it is, usually dig those anyhow. The more info the better!
Congrats on your fun hunt with fellow MD'ers!

Glad you had fun Coily... 95% of time I'm in all metal mode with mine. Probably the reason I find a lot of horseshoes and chain pieces.

The F75 is deep enough in Disc mode. The all metal mode is very noisy on the F75. Not a mode I can use in the city parks as it will go 10" inches easily. The F75 as with your minelab I would suggest using a very low setting as sensitive as you can run it to increase your finds. But if your in a place to run all metal, it is definitely like running a new machine. My buddy runs all metal and he finds the rings and old coins. Im a gleaner, just surface hunt for new drops. Im a chicken so my hats off to you and all metal mode. Cant wait for your pictures of your finds.

I always start in all metal. Just to see what is there and maybe age the site to tell me what kinda site it is. I may then start to discriminate it out just a little but still want to hear it. Could be a sign of other hidden goodies. Sounds like you had fun.I am having trouble with aluminum under water. Hard to resist!
