Home made Cubical quad beam antenna, plumber's dream. CB setup, can be fixed for HAM. Have to finish a bit of wiring, then tune. My goal is to xmit locally 30 -50 miles off factory 4 watt radio, 1,500 miles when the skip rolls in. Going to get it up at least ten feet higher.

Reminds me of the old PDL Quad...put one on top
of the house when I was a teen, and chatted with
folks all over the globe. :icon_thumleft:

When I was a young teen in the 70?s I put up a big 3-element Yagi strapped to the chimney on our house.

Too much static for that wattage at that elevation.

One benefit of this design, which dates back to 1951, is reduced noise and slightly higher gain at lower elevation, compared to other designs like a Yagi. But yes, it needs to be a bit higher.
