I've seen this before but can't recall what it is

I was hunting a park earlier today, just trying to log some hours on the new Prizm, its not an old park so I was surprised to find a 1946 Rosie, and then this just a few feet away. It appears to be a badge of some kind but part of it as you can tell is missing. Its as big around as a quarter and about as thick as one as well, and it appears to have the number 26 on the top and then under it smaller the numbers 156 to the right is some kind of shape but can't tell what it is perhaps the shape of a state

I am convinced it has something to do with the military, probably WWII, the reason why is just a few feet away I found a 1946 silver dime and a few feet from there a wing gold in color like they wore on military uniforms. Just a hunch.

How big is it? Since the numbers appear to be backward, maybe it's a seal or stamp of some sorts.

Its as large as a quarter and as thick the only number that looks backwards is the first one it looks like a backwards 5, but it could be a funky 2. The back of it has no markings and is smooth, so it doesn't appear to be a pin or attached to anything.

I don't think wax seal only because the markings are inverted and the wax would get stuck in the the groves and it would be hard to get out. I think it has something to do with the armed forces maybe flying, or perhaps college. I really think it dates no futher back then the 1940's
Oh well maybe next time out I will find the other half of it and then maybe figure it out.

TKG you do find some interesting treasures
I would really like to see a clearer picture of the treasure;
I've manipulated the pic as best as I can with my freeware and I seem to see different - to the numbers you say are there.

I am sure I have seen that cartoonish character before, somewhere
Some random thinking of possibilities, digging deep in (what's left of) my memory;
is it a fox not a dog?
the apparent leather helmet could be related to airplanes, motorcycles or cars
or baseball? I seem to see a baseball bat and ball in amongst the numbers.

I'll probably wake up tomorrow and pretend none of this happened

It looks like a squadron and fighter group insignia.
I am not sure where to check though.

I still think it is a regimental insignia. They are pretty creative.
You just need to find out which brach of the service it is from.
