OK all,

I must have really did something great for the MDing / Treasure Hunting Gods because today and a few days ago they really smiled on me.

Today I was driving along in a local town and saw a pile of furniture, appliances and other things stacked outside this house. They looked like they were for trash pickup so I stopped. To my surprise there were people still moving a few things out of the house.

Now what a surprise it was to see that one of the people was a guy I used to hang out with in high school. He bought this house and was cleaning it out for trash pick up tomorrow. He bought the house for resale of course. So after we exchange some stories about how its been since we last saw each other about 15 or so years ago, plus getting me to give him so free labor helping him carry out more torn up furniture (place was looted) LoL, I have to ask can I MD the place. He says sure.

Now as teenagers we were always trying to put each other down and get the best of each other. He said that I should start by looking in the house. No MDing in there though and tearing out the floors wall he said. As I was getting ready to look in the house he said to look just inside the door. THere was some collectibles of value there I could have. I looked inside the door and could not see anything of value. I peered back out and asked him what he was talking about. He said "Right by the door man, Pepsi, Coca Cola, collectibles. I look back inside and see just a few aluminum cans. I look back outside and he is holding up a back. "Collect them and about 10,000 more and you will have value he laughed". I gotta give him credit on that one that was pretty funny and him and his friends were still laughing as I left.

I have not MDed the place yet, but I did find a great looking Tin inside the house. I quickly peered inside and it had candy in it. He explained to me that the lady that lived there died and no heirs could be found. Eventually the city took over the place and sold it to him at auction.

Anyways after a few more stories I leave needing to get home and start supper. When I got home and removed the candy out of this tin OMG OMG OMG stopped my heart nearly.

I will be following this post with pics of what is inside of this Tin along with a last post of a yard sale buy I made a few days before.

Thank you for reading,

Postalrevnant

You reckon it was my good karma somehow or his bad karma with the joke?

Re: Jewelry gold silver OMG a bag of jewelry so many firsts

That's a very cool story and congratulations. It reminds me of when I was about 12 and poking around at the neighborhood gravel quarry when suddenly I spy drawers from a chest filled with clothes. I naturally have to check out this illegal dumping. I dump out the contents, so they'll break down into soil qucker, mind you and I see jewelry boxes. :o :o KEWL ;D ;D I opened them up and found a gold class ring from 1937 with no name, a gold and ivory pendant and neclace with matching earrings. Had some good vaue, best I remember.

It was Christmas type candy. Wrapped in gold, silver, green, red wrappers. It was hard and should have been softer so no I did not tempt fate.

Pitched it and was very VERY happy to have noticed that bag when I dumped it in the trash at home. Have something to share on another reply in a sec reguarding the candy. I came so close to loosing out on that one. Will explain in a sec.

Sweet, sweet, sweet Rev!!! You better go out & buy a lottery ticket right now!!! ;)

That was my lottery ticket. My wife did mention that I should, but this find was so lucky in so many ways. I know its not going to be money to me atm. But honestly. Until my wife gets payed in 2 days I don't have a dollar to buy one.

Re: Jewelry gold silver OMG a bag of jewelry so many firsts

**** Let me share how close I came to losing this****

Now that the shock is wearing off a little I think of how close I came to losing this.

If you had the time to read the entire story...if not that is ok. The guy showed me a bag to collect cans with as a joke about collectors item's behind the door when I went in. Aluminum cans.

As I came out I asked did he still have the bag. He said it was filled and they had no bags. I checked the bags and they were tighed too tight for me to undo (no fingernails), had there been a bag I might have dumped that there and not even seen it. Or dumped it and he saw it.

OMG I am so glad I did not. I have a wonderful wife of 15 years. I am looking for computer networking job or similiar in Knoxville. I have not been able to find one during the last month. No big deal, but she is really feeling the strain of us having just enough for bills etc. This find won her over on my buying the detector. Not on detecting instead of finding a job. I agree with that one. If it were not for having a new friend coming down Daytondigger I would not have found the halves probably, because I would have been job hunting until late in the evening, but since I have hosted many of her family and friends she understood and said take a week off of hunting and go with him.

Anyways, I think this find atleast pays for the $299 for the detector. Atleast I hope it does. 10k but there is a decent amount.

Let me tell you all if you don't know. SPOUSES wifes or husbands supporting you no matter what. WOW now that is the true treasure. Greatest GOLD Greatest everything in the world. I am glad she is smiling at detector now, and when another one arrives hopefully in a week or so from a trade she is finally going to go detecting with me and use my detector.

If she had said sale that detector or pitch it, I would have. She NEVER would have said that, but that's just how much I respect her love and dedication and all that she has went through with me during all of those military years being gone from her while she is foreign countries.

NOW THAT IS THE TRUE GOLD ALL PLEASE DON'T FORGET!!

Thank you all,

Re: Jewelry gold silver OMG a bag of jewelry so many firsts

Cool stuff for sure! :)

In case you didn't see it on the original post I sent out these finds along with a few other small silver rings I found MDing to Midwest refineries.

I needed some Christmas money for presents, so this came at a great time. Plus the wifey did not need any of this jewelry. We both agreed getting out daughter what she wanted for Christmas was so much better.

For those still wondering about Midwest Refineries and those wondering exactly what my find was in ounces I will post the findings of their report.

Once again thank you for all the kind responses.
