Jewelry, Scads 'o Clads, and 13 lucky keys
Hi everyone! Today I hit/scouted some parks I'd never been to before. All were built in 1967, so my goals/hopes were for lots of clad and a ring (haven't found a ring in months, as I've been concentrating on old places rather than well-travelled, and/or maybe I suck).
First park was okay, plenty of change, a cool watchface, and a ring!! I only have a scanner so can't show the outside, but it's inscribed with "Forever". Looks like steel or chrome-plate, and is in nice condition. Also found a state quarter I didn't have before. And was nearly eaten by a gigantic friendly German Shephard.
Then I ventured to another new park, this was the smallest I've ever seen. A concrete slide and a swingset set upon sand, total area no more than a 7-11. But holy yowza did it produce!! Found:
29 pennies, including a '55D wheatie (fourth-last coin I dug)!
3 nickels, 10 dimes
8 quarters, three of which were state quarters I hadn't found before, bringing the day's total to four! WOOT, come here album.
Total moolah on the day: 80 coins, $4.46. Cha-ching!
But those were just the bonus finds! Also found, all at the teeny park:
*An earring stamped "S[?]925" (can't read it, maybe "S5"?) with a "ruby" and "diamond". In italics because I doubt they're real. But it sure is pretty! The "ruby" is much deeper red than the scan.
*Enamelled two-sided happy/frownie face pendant, cute as a button...er cute as a pendant I mean.
*"Chanel" faux pearl and "Gold-plated" clip-on earring. Italics because it might be fake, but it sure is blingy! (too thick for scanner).
*Possibly silver (no stamp) kanji "Peace" symbol earring.
*Old army Dog Tag (my second, and second in the last three days!), with tetanus shot in '56. The lady passed away recently but I think I can locate her husband to give it back.
*THIRTEEN keys, ALL Schlage, and all spread out all over the little park! What in the heck happened there? There's no snow here so maybe kids have key fights? A local Schlage factory? Whatever the explanation certainly one of the more bizarre detecting situational finds yet for me.
This might've been my most-jewelry finds in one day yet. I feel like Santa already gave me a present! In keeping with the holiday season, here's a scan of my beautiful Schlage wreath. Happy Holidays! And Happy Hunting! HHHH!
