Hey everyone,

Got out a few times here and there over the last month or so. I had to hang it up though for the most part when the ground froze over solid about a month ago.

Usually here in P.a where I am at I can hunt all winter long. But it just got to cold here this yr. So the few times I did get out more than half the soil was inpenatrable.

Just recently though the weather started to break and hit the 40's. It thawed out enough for me to get out the other day. I picked up a really beat 1920 merc at 8 to 10 inches down on a hard packed old wagon path.

This one was down in the clay and I almost left it behind. It was nice to see the sight of silver again. I was finally able to get down more than 4 inches and I started finding coins again.

The times I was out before you couldn't get deeper than 4 inches. So mainly surface finds and shallow relics were found.

I managed to cure my cabin fever with the few items I did come up with. Sometimes it's just nice to be out. Even if the finds aren't plentiful.

Hope you all like the pics

Thanks alot guys,

Mike, This reed struck me at first glance also. It is a weird one. I looked it over and it seemed to have faint traces of writing on it. I never found one this wide and rounded at the edges.

I found it in a lot were a house was torn down not long ago. Grounds were still froze at the time. But I did pull a few relics and the reed was from that site.

I'll have to get back there and further investigate the area. Seemed like a older site. I find reeds alot to. Almost every outing or other.

Hang in there NE. It did get really cold in the NE for awhile. You'll be out gettin them goodies again soon.

Leon, It put a damper in my digs some but not fully. If I'm out in the cold I am trying real hard to bring something back. Even if only half of the ground is diggable.

I agree the ring was one crazy looking ring. It was froze on the surface with just the band sticking up out of the ground. I almost couldn't recover it because the ground was so hard that day.

Glad you all liked the pics. Still trying to get good with a digital camera.

Great finds, congrats. Looks like you have a WWI era dog tag. Cool.

You are a trooper. Those pictures make me cold!

Yipee! Jer's back!! ;D

Thanks for the fix, jer. You always have lots of goodies to look at. :o

That one token looks like it was a whizzer....a toy that you put a string through...wind up and make it spin.

Glad you've got that new camera. I love those pictures of things as they come out of the hole.

Thanks alot everyone.

Things are starting to come around here now. Hunting this whole weekend. It was cold but as long as the ground is soft I am out.

Having a camera is nice. I also love the shots as they come right up. Only bad thing is I am always finding goodies lol. So I am always taking shots.

I know I am gonna wear this camera out. I know the camera can do more. I just need to learn it better.
