Just me or is Used Tesoro’s not selling like they should

Not many even know about Tesoro's. When I was asking about a good first detector years ago. Not one person mentioned them. I just happened to come across a 53silver vid on youtube and thats what got me looking at them. A facebook group asked what brand we all used. Hundreds replied and less than 1% use a Tesoro. With no advertising or social media activity at all, not even their own facebook page. Not many using or even suggesting them to those interested in getting into detecting. If people have never even heard of you, their not going to be buying your product, new or used. The whole "cazador" fiasco did not help and as most know was a complete disaster. Many just lost interest with them and rightfully so in my opinion. Just any one of these factors would not be all that bad. But all of them combined is certainly not good. I always suggest Tesoro's to people though.

They are not big on social media, and are more a regional detector. I never heard of one until I went with some guys to South Carolina. I bought one as soon as I got home because the White's I was using at the time was a piece of garbage. I started to clean up when I got that first big box Tesoro, and have owned one ever since. That trip to SC was in 1990.

I’ve owned one and sold them for over 25 years. I like how easy they are to use, the lifetime warranty and everything else

Well, the last thread on here from mr. Nathan at Tesoro a few years ago stated that they are a "global" company and put them right up in the same bracket as Sony. Now that was a bit much. Yeah, they have an overseas market. But Sony? He got just a bit carried away with that statement. Funny how after that we don't hear anything on here from him and can't say i'd blame him...

Their lifetime or yours which ever comes first and if they are out of business your lifetime warranty ends. They (Tesoro) can’t take the logic of Encyclopedia Britanica that they will not fail once something new comes to market that dominates. In Encyclopedia Britanicas case they laughed (true story look it up) at the CD rom that was capable of holding all the information in all of their volumes on one disc. Lesser known companies put their Encyclopedia versions on CD roms and killed Encyclopedia Britanica. This was long before the Internet and Netscape , Yahoo or Google. Adapt or die.

It would be sad to see them go because they are a good company but even Terry the die hard Tesoro advocate just purchased a Minelab Equinox.

Cheers

I’m patiently waiting on Terry to sell the Equinox and buy it off him;)

He likes it he actually sold off his Tesoros

Well shoot. I was actually going to sell mine and pay a little more to get a equinox but I’ve had such good luck with an f75 that I wanted one of them before I jump on the Equinox bandwagon. One detector I’m sure terry still has is the old trusty Compadre

My Tesoros find the goodies just as well now as they did 2 B.E. (Before Equinox). I guess I am a hardcore Tesoro fanboy but I just really like the way they work.

Me too. I’m sure I’ll change my mind about selling this one. Every time I’ve sold one of my Vaquero or even my modded cibola I wanted to kick myself in the rear

Since I do mainly relic hunting, I really have no use for a VDI. The Tesoros with their lifetime warranty work great in the bad dirt I'm used to.

Shoot that’s when I like to buy the most. I hunt more in the winter here in Arkansas cause we don’t get much of a break during the summer to hunt cause it’s so dang hot and our winters seem to be as of the last several years very mild. I’ll leave it in its box until then and with spring coming on I’m sure it’ll sell pretty quick

I'm a winter hunter too. #1 I hate hot weather..but less vegetation/ bugs you name it. Plus ground is usually at least damp in winter...but that's just me, I just don't like summer lolol.

I agree with the Nox thing though,..think it's slowed some sales for a bit. But pretty weather does make money move,..real estate, cars, tax refunds. tobacco checks,..things usually always pick back up.

I’m actually watching a used Sand Shark on eBay right now. I sent my old used sand shark back to the shop that sold it to me as there was something wrong with the coil and I was still within the return policy.

I’ve got to where I like the winter time more because like you say that’s when everything dies out and down here in Arkansas it’s usually only cold enough where I go that even if it was to freeze only a few inches would be froze and he rest was moist soil. I would say a majority of my best hunts was during cold weather. Not to mention I don’t like the heat and sweating and dry dirt all over the place

I just bought a used Tejon just before Xmas from a member here. I was impressed by the Tejon my hunting buddy was kicking my butt with when I was using the CTX. Now I switch off and on between the two of them. Come Summer the Excal II will be occupying my time.

No problem selling (at normal price) my Tesoro's here in Belgium. The last 3 weeks i sold one of my Lobo Super Traqs (i still have 3 of them), 1 Cibola (because i still have the Vaquero) and 1 Tejon(i'm a parc hunter and the Lobo and Vaquero are better there than the Tejon)
