I had allot more than what is posted earlier in the day. On our way back down the creek I hit an underwater log and for the first time ever I flipped my yak. When that happened I had some nice pet wood and some bigger shards that had some nice markings on them. Lost now but might turn up later. Never know. My partner found a nice big fat point archaic period. It was the only whole one found today. HH, rock

Those are beautiful! I would've been a big cry baby if I had lost any shards...I love them and keep every one I find no matter how small they are ;-)

Looks like a rock, JMO...

rock..from what I've seen of your relatively short time creek hunting as compared to a whole season in the fields around there.. I suggest you really learn those creeks and hunt them hard when the water gets real low.
Your on the right track to find the goods now from what I see.

GB if you can post that pic of the point I gave you on this thread. Its dirty but the design of it looks very close to the one I found a couple of weeks ago. Mine and todays were crafted the same way. Neither one was finished as in a tip. Ill post mine then you post the pic I sent you. Thanks

Thanks GB I just wanted to point out that both of these were made without a tip on them but found in 2 different creeks. Knife maybe?

In all likelihood they were both broken full points and reworked after that.
The second one is so water worn I can't tell if it was ever reworked or just worn.

I know I walked rite over it. It looked just like a rock. He picked it up. I was for sure shard king today.

Looking like Adena culture on those bases and the pottery with all the designs screams late Mississipian. Is that what you are thinking? That creek has some good things in it for sure.

I had a nice big piece in the yak that was fabric printed. Dang log! Banged my knee and leg up but at least there wasnt a big rock waiting for me. Yeah I believe most of the printed pottery is Mississippian from this area.

what?you took someone with you and they found the point, you gotta tackle them rock.listen too me rock, tackle em buddy.

Looks like a big Savannah River point I think.
What are you calling it?

One day I'll find pottery. Probably see it everytime, just don't know it. None of the artifact shows had it, so I couldn't get a hands on.

It was so dirty I couldnt see the color on it let alone the type. I just found it strange both we have found didnt have the tip finished. Both show cortex at the tip of them. His was made from quartzite. I had to take his word cause I couldnt tell. I nicknamed him speedy cause he can really move in his yak. He doesnt miss much on a hunt.
