Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

Well after getting a phone call from OutRaged yesterday...

I just had to head down to that farmer's field and start diggin'!

Here's what I found...

FYI These thingamabobs are dime-sized.

Not a bad hour and a half for a newbie swingin' a MineLab ;)

I can hardly wait to get back there this evening!!!

Thanx for looking,

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

Hey Nickel B, beautiful Jersey. Congrats. The first watchacallit is a cover that would go over a door lock. It would have had a hole on the top and it would rotate to cover the key hole. The second one looks like some kind of belt attachment. Possibly could have been placed in lead on the back of a belt buckle. Great find..Lance

Thanx Lance!

I know that the Jersey is pretty common, but I love it!

It's the oldest coin I've found in my short stint detecting ;)

Before I cleaned up the key hole cover... we were guessing it for a broken spoon handle :D

But the word patent on the back led me to believe otherwise.

Who would patent a spoon ::)

I like your idea for the other item as well!

Again, thanx for shedding some light :)

Really cool finds! I'd be heading back.

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

Just curious...

How long did you detect and how much land is remaining to be detected?

Excellent recovery!

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

dont be so hard on yourself those are good finds...and once you get a handle on the xterra you will get stuff the LESSER machines cant reach... ;D

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

I can't believe you found that using a minelab. Must have been near the surface. :D See, if you were using a White's you would be finding the old silver. ;) ;D

That is a cool coin. You guys have one awesome spot to detect.

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

Thanx for the kind words and not being guys :)

I've only been MD'ing for a little over 60 days and I'm very pleased with my X-50!

The Jersey was only five inches deep, but I was pulling those much smaller buttons and whatchamacallits at around the same depth ;)

I was there for less then two hours that night...

The field is HUGE and the walking isn't that easy...

The ground is very, very dry...

Even after quite a few trips, I'm sure there are parts of that field that have not been swung!

I dug quite a few more buttons Saturday night and one ring-like objects...

No coins for me :( Only one coin was found that night with five guys swingin'.

Pics coming soon ;)

most of us minelab guys use the guys with other machines to sweep up clad and most of the junk then swoop in for the deep stuff you guys never even knew was there ;) hahahahaha

Re: Just Some Boring Ol' Copper...

Well here a few more of my finds from this field!

A few more flat buttons, a couple other buttons, a clasp and some ring-like object I scanned on edge in the clasp for everyone to get a little better look at it.

Any idea what it might be???
