Just thought I'd show off my last carving

Well a few years back my heart took me out of work. That first winter about drove me crazy !! I had alwasy been extremely active. One day while on the phone with a very successful artist friend down in Tucson, he say's "you've always wanted to do wood carvings,you have a forest of wood out your backdoor and I know you have some tools,,,,, JUST DO IT !!!!! " ,,,, so I did ! here are some photos of my latest sculpture,,,,,, What do ya think ? Stay busy,PPC

PPC...I'ld say you found your calling. Those are some great carvings and the turquoise is a nice touch.

2nd piece

Thanks !!! for all of your kind replies !!!! Damiani , It took me about 7 hrs total start to finish over the course of a couple of days. Lost , I had no experience at all carving,to prove it , I included a pic of the 2nd carving that I did I had very few tools when I started ,I did have a Dremel,and my bigger chisel's from my construction days,and a couple of pocket knifes , Now I have ,2 Dremels,a Foredom,lots more chisel's and knives. It has been a great hobby for me so far,and I can't wait until the next one is done Thanks again !! Have a great day

Thanks all !!!,,,again, Compliments just make me want to do better,when things quiet down a little I will post some more pic's of some of my work.
Backer,,,, It is pitch pine knots,no varnish,just a coat of tung oil to seal the wood and preserve the natural color.
Ginn,,, Last year we were evacuated for 4 days during the Waldo fire,,,,,, So far, 2 of our friends have lost their house's in the Black Forest Fire, They are lableing it the most destructive fire in Colorado history,360 homes gone,appx 143 business's gone,and about 200 outbuildings gone.

Wow that is incredible!! Hard to believe (but I do) that you haven't been doing this for years.
Crazy, don't even know what else to say to express how awesome that truly is!
Keep it up and please keep posting pics like this, something I totally want to watch (your progress etc) you my friend are a true artist!
