Amazing find. Technically he will be rewarded the market value as per treasure trove law as the finder. If the property is not his? Generally finders fee is split 50/50 between landowner and finder.

Great story...I just met a rival hunter here in the keys....he was kind enough to share the location where he found 4 pounds of silver spanish coins hidden in a clay pot and buried just above the high tide line. It still happens and that gives me hope !!

One thing I can guarantee you is nothing guaranteed in searching for treasure. Some will spend a life time and never find a thing. Others will finds things. The key is perseverance and researching into areas that have a higher probability in finding such things.

Finding some thing is one part of the equation turning it into liquid assets is another.
