Keokuk?

I know material types are hard most times but this one came from se Kansas so keokuk would be interesting any opinions?

Burlington and keokuk come from the same formation. MVL, lower Valmayern, Mississippian. They overlap in their characteristics and I’ve never been able to separate them. The formation with Burlington runs from western IL southwest through MO and OK so might include SE KS. If it’s made of white flint in IL we call it all Burlington although there is also some much older white flint from the glacial till.

I was thinking about it, and I kinda missed a step in my train of thought. It may not be of any consequence but I’ll feel better filling in. The reason my mind went to keokuk was a chunk of keokuk I was given to make points with. It is whiteish, same texture and has those same flat kind of iron stained spots…. Unless I’ve got my materials mixed up and neither are keokuk.

If I found that piece in IL I’d call it Burlington. Here are two bifaces I made from raw Burlington. Similar but not an exact match.
