These finds are from my last 2 days at a pretty old site. I probably dug 100 holes and was pretty wore out by the end of it. This site must have been occupied from the early 1830's until the mid 1870's. The best coin find was the 1872 2-Cent piece. Only 65,000 were minted and are more rare then the 1877 Indian and several other rare coins. Unfortunately the market isn't there for 2-Cent pieces
. The large cents are dated 1837, 1845 and 1848. I ended up finding the other 2 cent coins about 10 ft from each other.
The large brass piece near the top wasn't noticed until I was cleaning my finds it is a A.S.T. Co. "HERO" gun produced between 1868 and 1873. Apparently it had a screw on barrel and was a very cheaply made.
Overall, this site had very little trash and was quite productive. Only, If they were all like this
