Kid's Play

I got out for a little hunt the other day with TNetter, Todd Lipe. I was not very successful, but had a good time despite myself. I found a half dozen Wheaties and a '48 Jefferson. I also found a little badge that says "Bootleg License By Trade". It was covered with a beautiful patina from countless decades in the ground... so I zapped it! All of the corrosion just disappeared... clean as a whistle... which brings me to my next find... a whistle made out of a shell casing. I have not seen one of these since I was a kid.

I tried to find silver coins, but came away with kid's toys.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

That's a cool whistle, haven't seen one Before

Pay no attention to him, Tom. He hasn't seen one cause all his whistles he had as a kid were sterling or 18 kt, lol. He never had his Mom cut a hole in his pocket so he had something to play with at Christmas like we did:laughing7:
Is that nickel a regular one ( like I find )?

That Badge is cool! Neat for a club meet !!

Great finds again CT. But you sure that bootleg license wasn't issued recently? I drove by your house the other day and saw smoke coming from the woods. I really couldn't get a good look though because of the glare coming off some kind of copper kettle.

My mom kept sewing the hole in my pocket up... kill joy.

You have a keen eye for IDing the plain old Jefferson nickel... from what I hear! And indeed sir, you are correct!

CT your mom was just looking out for you she just didn't want you to be disappointed when you found out you didn't have much to play with.

Very cool, historical finds, congratulations, Tom! The little badge is obviously a fantasy badge, made to impress friends at local town meetin's...Sub 8-)

I still like to kid Chris about this big honker he found on one of our hunts. It's silver too!

Let me tell you, that thing looked like one of those kids' rings you get in one of those supermarket machines where you put a quarter in and get one of those plastic holder things with " treasure " in them. Big old ugly thing. He had to show me it was marked as silver. I thought " No way! ".

Nothing wrong with those finds!!

I was telling the kid yesterday we need to find a new property and start finding the cool finds again. Haven't find an old dog tag or old watch fob for awhile. We both would prefer silver, gold or old copper any day but, still love those little pieces of personal history.

You did way better then the kid and I...
