I almost found my new favorite point yesterday in my best creek. I was actually thinking on my way there that this creek was due to produce a killer point and boy did it! I almost died though when I saw that the tip was knocked off but it's still a nice point! I think it's a St. Charles which would mean that it's 8-10,000 years old...

Haha my first reaction was "thank you God"!

That sir, is a true heart breaker. I hope there's more like it in the area for you to find that are whole. Good luck!

Ouch.......sweet...and sour!

Even though it is broken, it is still an incredible find.

Man what a shame and the break looks fresh to. I bet something stepped on it. Maybe a deer got it before you did. You can always get the tip restored doesnt look like much is missing. If there is current in that creek get yourself a broom with the plastic spines and give it a good sweeping then after the water clears have another look I bet you might find something else. Its still a killer find.

ouch and Wow! That is a killer artifact.

I stood there for probably five minutes just soaking it up before I pulled out my phone and recorded it! :)

Still a killer find! What a beauty!

Awesome find, that would make me smile for days.

I'd love to see a close up of the notches, something about it makes me think it's late archaic or early woodland. (I'm spacing the name, Kings Corner Notch is what comes to mind and I know that isn't it. Strait sides, rounded notches with a couple more flakes than you would typically see in St. Charles/Dovetail. Neanderthal would know.)

I'm out of town for a few days but will get a close up and post on Friday.

Here's a close-up of the notches..

Great find. Very cool. I'm with Joshua though in that I think it may be a later point. The notch style, the lack of basal grinding might mean it's a later style.

From what I can see of left lower picture, top flute suggests extreme impact fracture, that baby was thrown hard. Still super exciting find with a bit of mystery.
