I was able to get out for a short bit today and dug two CW 3 ringers and one fired pistol bullet. And then I dug this, saw shape and the Rebel Flag and thought...ok, this is going to be cool. After I cleaned it up at bit, saw what it was...and thought this is cool. Weird, I was digging bullets of the CW, then almost 80 years goes by til this relic was dropped within 15 feet of actual CW bullets.
It says- SCV, (Sons of Confederate Veterans.) It has Lee on one side and Jackson on the other and reads 45th Annual Convention. October 8-11, 1940 (4 yrs before my dad's birthday, will get to that is a minute) . It also says the Custis-Lee Mansion, which is now the Robert E. Lee Memorial located in Arlington, Va on the Grounds of the Arlington National Cemetary. Nothing on back. It's in pretty good shape for being almost 75 years old. It was dug in Fairfax, VA.
My father was a Marine, 2 tours in Nam and passed away this July. On Monday, my father will be honored and burried in Arlington National Cemetary...eerie, weird, and cool at the same time. Thanks for looking.
