I got out to three different places over the Labor Day weekend. First spot was my most productive Colonial/Federal era coin site. I hunted the place hard 20 years ago and hadn't been back since 2010. To give you an idea just how sweet this place was, here are all the coins I dug there. A total of 91 in all including the one I found Friday. Dated coins ranged from 1718 to 1826.

The vegetation was just ridiculous, making the most productive areas impassible. The greenbriers and thorn bushes have really covered the place compared to 20 years ago. Nevertheless, I was able to pull a few French & Indian War musketballs, a Tombac button, and a toasted copper

Saturday I had a short hunt at the site of a mid 19th century inn. The area also saw some activity in the 1920s based on the 1917 Standing Liberty Quarter, and Lincoln pennies dated 1910, 1917, and 1918. The older coins were an 1827 LC, and 1860 and 63 IHPs.

Finally, yesterday I did a little yard hunting in the neighborhood. My neighbor is selling the family home which at one time was a schoolhouse. I went over most of the backyard yesterday and found a couple pieces of silver and a few wheat ear pennies. I also found three lead toy soldiers which I gave to the owner who is a Vietnam Veteran.

Very nice hunt Dave. That site has been very good to you and looks like a good "go to" for years to come.

Excellent weekend of detecting you had for sure! I'm amazed at the early coins and relics that's up there. That's an incredible display of coins just from one site! Way to go Steve keep it up!
Thanks Dave, It will be tough to replicate a site like this. In my 30 years of digging, I have only had three sites with over 50 large coppers and double digit Spanish silver. This was obviously one of them :)

Now that was a producing site, something that I'd never get in my neck of the woods. Congrats on the totals and the latest silver and coppers.
Spider webs and detecting is the best! (being sarcastic) If anyone was watching me they'd swear I was religious with all the signing I do swinging in the air with the coil knocking them down.:laughing7:

Thanks Pepper, the spiders are out in force this time of year. My buddy walked into one and the spider was crawling on his face. His freak out was one for the ages :laughing7:

Thanks Blaze, I have seen this series and I grew up with the French & Indian War in my backyard - literally. The house I lived in until I was seven was on the site of a 1758 French & Indian War fort.

In fact my brother and I became so adept at picking Indian Trade Beads out of the dirt that fell through the mesh of the sifters that they put us in charge of a sifter during the excavations of 1964 when I was 6 going on 7. We found musketballs, pipe stems, buttons, and even a two reale cut in half (which I distinctly remember). I know you already saw this, but most missed it.
