I, myself, joined after my husband did so I could post my own finds. Also to look at what others were posting so I could learn from people who are into other hobbies and interests that were different from my own.

I joined for a few reasons. There is always something to look at, no time to get bored. Also has ppl are aware I'm a flint addict, so I knew it would be a great place to see ppls finds rock & metals.
Glad i did too, I have made so many good friends.

Hubby took me to Praco Pawn in Waco Texas, 2 years ago, because they are the closest Whites Dealers. I got a Whites MXT for Christmas. The man who sold it to us said he goes to this great sight called TreasureNet.com, and he talked about all the great info you could find on TNet. Thats how i got started. To this day i'm still wondering what his sign in name is so i can tell him THank YOU! :-*

Pretty much what everyone else has said....to see what others have found, to post what I find, to learn the tips and tricks, to read the fascinating stories, like reading the jokes too in Comedy Central

, but I think the best part of TNet, is helping someone ID something or look through the newspapers for info on a place, time, person, item....that is the most fun part for me!

Being a Genealogist, Metal Detecting goes hand in hand with it....both deal with finding items of the past, learning about our ancestors....

And I've had the pleasure of meeting some really nice folks that have come to our 2 a yr hunts!!! (next one March/April).

It was by a stroke of luck that I found treasurenet.I was doing some research and came across Jeffs story on the plane crash....I was hooked. Once I started reading the stories I couldnt stop.But I lurked for a long long time .....

Treasurenet was the first forum I had ever joined. I wasnt too sure about it when I started,but quickly came to realize that it was the best Treasure Hunting site out there.
Being a woman and having such a passion for hunting/history and research
made me kind of an oddball.....I wanted to be where I could contribute something and be on the same level as the guys on the playing field. For a long time many people here infact thought I was a man....LOL...I hope that myth has been dispelled and that I have contributed something to the site.

I have met some of the most wonderful people on the Earth through this forum....people who are my best friends and who will go the extra mile for you no matter what. The women here ,for the most part are just like I am ,here for the hobby and the fun of it.
I hope we as women have encouraged other women to join this hobby and made it easier on those who want to.

I got a detector for Christmas and was looking for treasure stories, so I was just Googling around and came across Tnet. I remember staying up half the night reading the stories and looking at the pictures. I was hooked. I loved the sense of humor of the people posting. That was and still is my favorite part.

This was back in January of 2005 when TreasureNet had only 6000 members. I was nervous about joining a forum, and I pretended like I was a man for a while, because Tnet was like a men's club back then, and there was only one woman who I saw posting......a very beautiful outrageous woman called Free2Detect. It turns out that "she" was a he pretending to be a she. Once I started making some good finds, I had enough confidence to come out of hiding. :tard:

I think TreasureNet really became the best forum on the internet, when the women joined in. People like Gypsyheart, Nana, RiverRat have been here for three or four years. They are a constant strong steady voice for female detectorists. I think we are true treasure hunters and have proven it with our finds and our dedication to this site. We aren't here for the obvious attention that we get from the men, but we are here because we love detecting. :icon_queen:

I joined because of my passion for artifacts and fossils. I do this with my young son so have no friends to share with

here I get awesome adive and ids, though im nooby:P And Jeff rocks. Im hoping to make friends here eventually

Well have always "dinked" around with someone else's MD, finally put in a request for one of my own last Christmas, and wanted to know, learn more about it as a hobby, Googled MD, saw this site, entered, and well as they say the rest is History (no pun intended). So many knowledgeable people, so willing to help and share...and I am still here with so much to learn.

I was researching something and came across treasurenet and was in total awe of all the info here and helpful people. I got to reading stories and found I spent MANY hours on the site before I even remembered I still had my search results up on a different page. Needless to say, the addiction set in very quickly for me. I am still amazed at the incredible amount of information on just about any topic a person can think of! The ability to use the search option as a charter member has made tnet the very best place to research for me and along the way I have met some incredible people here and had the honor of meeting many in person too. I feel at home here, this is my family and I feel very blessed to have come across the site that first day of research!

Hello Ladies,
I just wanted to " peek " in, and let ALL of you know that there are many, many people here that are soooo glad you lovely ladies joined... Sometimes a womans touch is all that is needed, and especially to Gypsy Heart and Cynangyl, some of your your stories and contributions are read with awe and amazement. I know, I for one have been truly taken aback when I read some ( if not all ) of Gypsy's. This is not to discount anyone else.... But I thought I just " had " to let everyone know that we men are thankful that you are here.... :thumbsup:
