Went out in the cove at the back of my property and decided to do a little different kind of detecting instead of my Colonial sites :icon_sunny:
Alot of mud, pulltabs, clad and other junk :-\
At one spot i actually sunk up to my knees in mudd :laughing9:

The lake has not been this low in a long time and even when it is the shoreline is usually frozen

Grabbed a beautiful 1972 Central Falls High School ring :blob7:
In perfect condition :icon_thumright:

1944 Walking liberty half

Some silver quarters and Merc dimes.

Lots of lures and lead :)

A nice sterling Religious pendant.
Some other old jewelry
So much area to cover i need some help out there :walk:
And in my farm i found the largest deer antlers i have ever seen :o
I put the regular size next to them so you can see the difference..

Have fun out there ;D

How those are some great finds. Lots of old stuff. Maybe I should take a week vacation and come help you detect that lake.....Matt

Outstanding bunch of Finds :headbang: , congrats! At the back of your property? Thats pretty neat, love the site picks, beautiful area. It's neat you found the antlers in pairs :icon_thumright: , I'll find a small single one once in awhile but that's after the squirrels been chewing away on them , be careful out there and enjoy YOUR new finds :icon_thumright: !

Great hunt. I'm sure there's plenty of more there. This could be your "giving" beach.

Blaze- great finds. that ring is a monster! and a walker!!!! nice. congrats on the great recoveries! I'm stoked to get a water detector- btw were you using a water detector or a land one for these finds?!?!?! Thank you for sharing the pics and keeping all of us in to the hobby motivated by sharing YOUR finds!

Blaze I found a silver ring today on the east bay side of the state .should I post it on CRaigs list and see how many calls I get.Mike

Every state has a law that says you have to turn in lost items....knowing who the ring belongs to and kepping it is the same as stealing it...thats what the law says....Im not taking a shot at you, just telling you something you may not be aware of.

He found the ring and he can do with it whatever he wishes to do.

I also challenge you to post a Rhode Island law that states keeping the ring is the same as stealing it. I'm not saying such a law doesn't exist [although I doubt it], I would just like to see it in print.

And nice finds Blaze. Don't lose any sleep over the fate of the ring, it belongs to you now.
Your right, he can do whatever he wants...if he wants to break the law, give this hobby a bad name, and be greddy, thats his right. I bet when he finds out there is a law in the books, he removes this post. Each state has a minimum dollar amount on items that must be turned in, it is usually fifty dollars. That is so you dont have to turn in a quarter that you find on the sidewalk or any other low value item.

Great finds Blaze!

Thanks man :icon_thumleft:

Your better off taking it to a place that buys silver for weight...Or they might buy it for the ring :dontknow:

Lookindown......Step away from the computer and go play with your Barack Obama doll....

I see you have went back and removed parts of your posts.....If you dont think your doing anything wrong then why did you remove the parts about what you were going to do with the ring? I said when you found out about the law you would remove your post...I should have known you would just remove the bad parts. Put your original post back up so everyone knows the whole story. I was going to let this go until you made your smart remark to me. Its not my place to judge you...I was just trying to infom you of a law you may not have been aware of.

This is a place for enjoying and commenting on each others finds..

And this post was going great..I am a true American and remember an old saying..

It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch...

That's the nature of posting good finds.
There's always a do-gooder that wants to take your toy and go home.

Nobody wants to take his toy (ring) and go home. Yesterday he posted that he has the name and address of the owner and he is "alive and well." But before he considers giving it back, he wants to have it appraised by his jeweller and see what the jeweller will give him. Today, he removed that part of the story. In my opinion not giving it back is going against the good will, unwritten metal detecting law of returning rings when you know who the owner is. He also said, what if I contact the guy and he is broke?! All this over a ring that might fetch $200 at best. If the choice is returning the ring to it's known and rightful owner or not returning it in order to gain $200, keeping the ring for $200 is pretty sad.
