About 20 years ago I had a change to go diggin on the East coast with a native of Mass. We were pressed for time but managed to get in 3 days of hunting. It was an experience for me being a Midwesterner, getting to dig in a much older area. We hunted on a large estate that he had hunted before and did quite well (At least I thought so)I only dug 2 silver but both were bust(1827 half dime and an 1833 half) Both of these coins have been sold but I did find a bag of coppers and a couple of nice buckles to remind me of that trip. Most of the coppers are either Geo. I and Geo. II but there is a farthing size coin that I never could I.D. it is dated 177? If anyone can I.D. let me know.
