Large Silver found today!!! ***Added the 61' Bonneville pix***
O.K., so it's not a coin, and I didn't find it with a detector, but it is a great find though.
It's been close to 100 degrees here, hot & humid this week. Too hot to detect at lunch, so I hit a little antique shop today instead.
Being an old car nut (mainly 60's & 70's) I spotted this SILVER 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ model on a dark lower shelf. I used to own a 1972 Grand Prix SJ (real car) so this car caught my eye. It was priced at $10 and in excellent condition. At first I thought it was a model someone built, but after looking it over, I realized it was possibly an original dealer promo car. Dealer promos used to be given out (or sold) at dealerships. Some of them are worth big $ today. Anyways, I took a chance and forked over the $10.
When I got home I checked E-bay, and sure enough it is the real deal. This particular one is selling for around $70-$100.
Not a bad find, and I didn't even have to break a sweat!
Tomorrow I'm going back for the other two I spotted. Both are dirty, but still worth way more than $10. One is an early 1960's Pontiac (Bonneville or Catalina), and the other is a 1955 (?) Pontiac.
Today was a good day.
Thanks for reading my non-metal detecting post,
MM
