Last best Hunt of 2019

Had to end 2019 with a Bang, a new permission on the Georgia Coast, no idea what was there. I was pleasantly surprised to see this Tabby Ruin fireplace on the bluff when I arrived. Not a bad sign.


Come to find out it's a untouched 1700s plantation, Buttons started to turn up everywhere. I got the first Coin within minutes of starting to hunt.

I think its the best coin I have found. 1798 Draped Bust large cent, rare variety that has the 1797 back die.





It didn't stop there,,, A 1818 large cent, More buttons, some very large Dandy buttons, a few buckles, My only problem was I didn't have enough time to hunt but a small area. I will be going back soon.

Way to go buddy! I thought the flat button with the hallmarks on it was really something but, the 1798/97 draped bust is something I have never seen before. You must have rubbed Jim's head before you left! You get a banner vote from me!

I got to thinking about that coin, and what’s really cool is that George Washington was still alive when that coin was minted.

Now THAT is a super drool cool coin find!! I can only imagine what it felt like to unearth and discover this draped bust lady! The 1797 back die is a really cool bonus. Not knowing what was really there and then all your finds-priceless! Congratulations my friend - banner vote indeed!!

Wow that draped bust buckle buttons relics thats freakin cool Im totally sick of this town I live in founded in 1826 and the first coin wasnt dropped until 1908 and they picked it right back up rrrr I love seeing these sites and some day Im gonna find one. Congrats on the nice set of finds. That DB is super sweet, the sand treated that one well. The farm field coppers don’t look like that.
