Got out twice last week, once with my buddy Rick and one solo hunt. Mainly hunted old sites from last year just to see if the frost pushed up any new finds, and it did but not a whole lot.
Most interesting items were a Parys Mountain Copper token, these were produced from 1787 to 1798, it's the second one I have found so far. Parys Underground Group

I also found a couple of bullets that are different. One looks like it lost all it's velocity before hitting the dirt and getting it's nose pused in. The second one I thought was a round ball at first but it looks like half a bullet as the hollow point is still visible:dontknow:, and you can clearly see the rifling on the side of the slug.

I also found this buckle that was from an 18th century site, (same one I found the PMC token) and I have to recheck the posts but I believe HomeGuardDan found one as well a few weeks back. Update yes, HGD did find one just like it and his research shows it's a Rev War, cartridge Box Strap buckle...Awesome surprise:icon_thumleft:

The rest was the usual items, lead bar, crotal bells, some crusty coppers, one 1861 Nova Scotia LC and the junk.

Hope to do much better next time out....but I always think that.

i love the junk just as much as the good stuff

Hello Zodiacdiverdave. Those are some great finds. I like the coin and the story around it. Looks like it was company script in lieu of pay, neat. Good luck this weekend. C9

Great finds Z. I need a closer picture of the bullet on the left as it might be a hard-rammed enfield...the one on the right is 100% a shotgun slug (modern). Nice stuff

Thanks for the ID on the slug Dan. That's one for the scrap lead bucket. Here is the pushed in bullet close ups, it measures 9/16 in diameter.

Way better than mine!

HEY ZDD

Looks like some success....very nice surprise with that buckle !!! Take that find any day !

Nice story on that coin ....funny how there is almost always a nice surprise and story for our finds.

That's quite a different copper...for me...I've not seen it before, funny how it's your second...which is how it goes.

Great buckle there Dave! And I really like that early token although I've never heard of them :dontknow:.

Thanks Bill, I guess they are far more common in the UK, the last one I found was actually cut in two. My only cut coin so far up here.

Dave, you and Rick always find the coolest sites to hunt! :occasion14:
I love the Parys Mountain Copper Token and the early buckle!

Best of luck to you,
Dave
