Hey folks - I found these 2 items near Brandy Station (CW camp/battlefield) in Culpeper, Virginia last week and was wondering if anyone could help with identification. The first shown here is the most interesting. It's very heavy and apparently made out of lead, about the size of a silver dollar. It has a very intricate design on both sides with what appear to be crosses with a wreath/floral pattern. I believe its a seal of some type, but would love to know the origin/meaning of the design. Looks like some type of heraldic shield. :dontknow: Someone else suggested in could be colonial. confused smiley The other piece is also about the size of a silver dollar and made of brass. Perhaps a simple rosette so some type? Thanks in advance for any help! :hello:

Thanks! The first image or the second? If you're referring to the first image, would it have all that decorative design on it?

Mantel Clock Pendulum Bob made by Ingraham (see # 10211 at the top of page 10) :

"Elias Ingraham founded his first clock company in 1844 and won 17 clock patents between 1853 and 1973."

I would never have guessed that in a million years. Thanks! Any way to verify age/date of this piece?

Other than that link stating that mantel clocks "gained great popularity in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s" and Ingraham had more than 200 styles made by the 1920's ... it's hard to put a date on it, just by the bob. Because it's lead (not brass), I could only venture a guess that it'd be from the late 1800's-1920's. Again, it's just a guess.

A clock movement plate would have numbers to indicate the month and year their clock was manufactured -or- the clock name plate would give the approximate date, as Ingraham changed the company name several times.
