Found this in a pasture on an old farm today. It was about 6" deep in the ground. It is made of pure lead. Any idea what it would have been used for? Being lead, it bends easily along its length.

I have found something like that before myself.

Yep, I'd vote for bar lead too. Nice find, Breezie

Most bar lead is ingot shaped and marked, or finger shaped but flat on one side, because it was cast in a open mold. Your lead is neither type. It looks like a even taper, which would require a 2 piece mold. IMHO it was made that shape for a reason. I just don't know the reason. :icon_scratch:

The corrosion and pockmarks make it look a lot like iron. Are you sure it's 100% lead?

Yes it's all lead. Poor lighting in my photo made it look like corroded iron. Looks a lot like DirtyMike's in good light. It has a fairly broad, flat head just like a spike or nail.
