Good picture. Do they restrict your access to fishing around the dam out there? I've seen that a lot. I guess they're afraid we might back cast and get hung up and open the water gate or something.

Wow! nice picture sure brings back some fond memories, my wife and I grew up around the Redding area. In fact, my wife father worked on Shasta Dam during it's construction. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all, for the nice comments. Yeah, RGINN, they do restrict the fishing. On the river side or downstream side it has always been restricted. You can fish up to the bridge that crosses the river just below the dam but, if you were to get closer and they sharply increased the water releases, it could swamp a boat or wash you off the shoreline. On the lake side of the dam, you used to be able to drive a boat right up to the dam but, since 9-11, you can forget about trying that. I think it's buoyed about 1,000 feet out and you aren't allowed to get closer.
