Let's come up with a better name!

Instead of calling ourselves "Metal Detectorists" lets come up with something with a better ring to it!

I know there's already "dirt fishers", "swingers", etc etc.

Lets come up with something new... like....

"Historical Recovery Engineer" H.R.E.

or

You could go the funny route... "Humans After Metal" H.A.M. (Don't get the radio guys all fired up)

What names can you guys & gals come up with?

That's really funny! The best I can do before I go to work is maybe saying you've got a brown thumb if your good at it. I can't say that. Mine's not even tan yet.

We've kind of been down this road before . Everything from dirt fishers to hazardous waste
removal .
Since Gypsy specializes in rust removal , I think I'll have her take a look at my chevy .

Lets not and say we did!

Lets get out there and, well, for the lack of a better name, go "Detecting". We will all go out with our "Detectors" and "Detect" things. I will create a new machine! It will be called the "Detectrolux"(the vacuum cleaner of detectors). Some will think it picks up more, and some will think it just sucks! We are all "Detect-o-maniacs", in one form or another. Some of us are "Detec-titans", the hardcore hunter, i.e. KirkPa. And then there are the fair weather, sunglassed, sunblocked, Bermuda short, no apron, garden trowel, leave holes, don't pick up your trash types I like to call the "Detec-tourist".

And since it all began, the "Detector" has been a unique assemblage of special "Detec-tronics"

As a little boy, I wanted to be a "Detective" Alas! I am!

I hope your next hunt is "Detec-terrifc" ! I don't know about all of you other "Detectorinos" out there, but, I vote to stay the course!

Well I don't know about another name for what we are, I know the South Jersey Metal Detecting Club for years batted around the terms, since public image is important and most felt that we should never use the term Treasure Hunters, sets off too many negatives for general public.
So Metal Detectorists we are.

For over a decade or more I have been using the term "Pingin" to say when I am going out, easy to say and write. Don is going pingin tomorrow, weather permitting!
