Lets get another group hunt together

Hey B,
I'm in. Don't have any ideas though. I was having trouble finding a spot last week. I can't find anything that isn't private property. If I can find anything, I post it.

Man, I feel your pain! So much land is off limit these days. I went out for an hour or so at a park (AGAIN) getting sick of parks. I did manage to come home with a very worn 1917 Merc though. Surprised the crap out of me.

i had the day off and hit the towpath near me. Since the river floods so often, I didn't think I would find much. I found nothing on the path. There is a picnic area about a half mile down and we hit there for about an hour. I found two quarters and two pennies. My wife found five dimes and a penny, part of which was a mini pocket spill. I also found a timex. Plenty of slaw, tabs and batteries. We may try it again when we have just an hour or two to hunt. I didn't feel like hunting the small local park we usually hunt. I want to hit a sports field but ours all say they are private. Guess it's to the point where I will need to get permission or just stay bored.

I'm really struggling to find spots around the Philly area. Still no response from the Philly Water Dept. and the Schuylkill Nature Center and all parks in city limits are pretty much off limits.

TJ,

I lost your email...send me a pm with it so I can add you to my email list.

I usually start by checking historical societies for locations. For some reason, some spots are just forgotten about. Probably the cost of preserving. I have been using maps.live.com for a while and agree that it is the best for my research. It seems like most of the open space near me is owned by PECO.

Here's a cool place that make a nice group hunt.... It's in Marion Township

Charming Forge - Est. 1750's Its abandoned now. Lets find the owners an see if we can do a hunt? Maybe talk to the local Historical Society?

Hey everyone - Any idaes are welcome as to how I should approach this conversation. Is there anyone here associated with the Historical Society out that way?

B

In My opinion, The Historical society is the Wrong way to go,
Unless you find they own it.

I would say, Find & Talk to the Owner

That looks like a great place to hunt. A lot of history there
