Im not so sure yours is a penny. 
Maybe its one of those magic trick coins. Can you take a pic side by side with a penny for size comparison?
Another possibility is that the coin got caught in a washer water pump or dryer. Here are some other examples of water pump or dryer coins. Odd thing about yours is the back is smooth.
