Well we started out on the evening of the 4th hitting the local grade school for an hour. Nothing but a few $$ in clad. Not real exciting, but had a blast with my daughter! Got back out Sunday morning, went to an old closed down grade school in a neighboring town. If you want to see a place that has been hit hard over the years, this is it. It is tough hunt to find a pulltab there. LLK hit the big trees first, she likes to make me dig through tree roots. After 20 minutes she got a strong nickel signal, and at 4" deep under the wonderful tree roots, out popped a 1934 Buffalo Nickel, 1/4 horn, full date. I still had nothing!
10 minutes latter she uncovered a Memorial cent, and I had a broken screw!!!
We then moved to another site, it was crawling with people, so we pushed on to another spot. I found a corroded windproof lighter, LLK had zip
We then went home to regroup and have some lunch. She helped me build a new pen for her peacocks, then we hit the grade school again a few more clad coins, we called the hunt due to heat and bugs! We will hit it hard again this weekend!
