After some time away from hunting, a co-worker and I got to talking about it again and we got the bug. A couple weeks ago we had an unusually warm day so he called me on Sunday and asked if I wanted to go hunting at the local park. I hesitated for about 1/2 second and said "pick me up".
We didn't find too much that I would say was noteworthy, but I did make a couple interesting finds. See the pics.
Believe it or not the IPOD shuffle was buried an inch or so, we have had rain and freezing temps. I took it home and cleaned it up and lo and behold it works! I was shocked. I tried but was unable to identify the owner. Not enough info. on the shuffle to go by.
The park is in our historical district and there was some Civil War skirmishes took place within blocks of the park, but I still find it hard to believe that the bullet might truly be from that era. I guess it is possible that it is and has been there all along and through maintenance at the park it got moved around and decided to be found. I can't figure out how such a bullet could have gotten into such a public park in the middle of town any other way; unless it came in on a load of dirt from somewhere else.
