Jim

It's a Leopold I(hogmouth) 1668 6 kreuzen silver coin. It took me a bit of research to find out what exactly it was.
Looked like an Austrian coin to me. So I found one like it but it had the double eagle on the back and not the Madonna with child.
So I looked up the Hungarian version and there it was.
Very thin hammered coin, about the size of a quarter.
Here is the English translation on the coin
"Leopold, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, always Augustus, of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia, King, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Tyrol."

Cool Rich. Any chance its a replica or do you think its the real deal?

Good question ! It's thinner than a dime but as large as a quarter. Gives off a silver sound but somewhat different.Perhaps due to the lightness of the coin? Magnet does not stick.
It matches up perfectly with the photo but has alot of wear, so there are on some of the small details just remnants remaining that can only be seen with magnification. There also appears to be minute horizontal cracks on the smooth surfaces. Don't know if this is significant or not.
Mine is off centered as well and slightly bent.If I lay it on a hard surface by pressing firmly down on it I can flatten it. Upon release it will spring back to the bend. Would silver spring back? It is half the thickness of a new dime.
It could be fake but I would be more suspicious of it if it were in uncirculated condition. I don't think it is a particularly rare or valuable coin. I'm certainly not even close to being an expert.

Very cool...Can't wait to get home and look at the pic. My office blocks most photo sites like flicker, photobucket, etc.

RWB, I have decided to just block offices in general. No work,no boss, nada, zip, zilch, zero. Cheers, Jim
