After scrubbing the clasp a little I can see a stamp; “Royal M....” and a date of 1843 below. Any information would be helpful. You are absolutely correct! I just googled them and found similar style buckles. I was hoping 1843 was a date but looks like several of their designs would have an “item number” stamped as well.
