Welcome to T-net! Have you tried local schools or public parks? Have you ever hunted before? Most start at their own homes an learn how to pin point well and dig up targets without destroying lawns. Once that is learned you are good to go on public places. These days many or most public places have been well detected so getting permission for private property is often necessary. Ask all you friends and relatives if you can hunt their houses and yards, after that asking for permission from strangers is the only way to access private property. Old churches are often good places to hunt, just ask the pastor first. Also it pays to get old maps of your area (sometimes available from local historical society) and look for old places that are no longer there, then get permission from whoever now owns that land. If you are new to it please learn how to dig targets without making a mess of lawns, take all trash you find away with you, and have some FUN!
